Product description

Digfix is our specially designed nesting material for ants.

Size:  183x160x 6/10/20/50 mm (depending on size S/M/L or XL)

These Digfix nest inserts are suitable for all burrowing ant species from dry but also very humid regions, as well as for species which live in wood.

Digfix is very versatile and can be used in all habitats, no matter how wet or dry.
Digfix also has the advantage that burrowing ant species do not soil the panes of their nest area when digging, which provides perfect visibility into the nest.

The sizes of the inserts (S, M, L, XL) do not refer to the external dimensions, but to the thickness of the panels (adapted to the size of our ants’ nests).

S = 6mm for small species like Myrmica
M = 10mm for medium species like Lasius and Formica
L = 20mm for large species such as Camponotus with nest insert also for smaller ant species.

Note: The natural color shade can vary between greenish / grayish brown and earthy brown. The shade does not affect the quality.

It finally arrived, super pleased

The Antcube arrived yesterday and my son and I got straight to work on setting it up. We are thrilled with the quality of this setup and overall the value is great. So far, the ants have some curiosity about the back nest area but haven't started digging yet. I put small foam blocks under each corner (designed to decrease vibrations, from Amazon), which also gave me extra clearance to tape my heating cable under the left side.
Shipping took a bit longer than I hoped for, but that's to be expected for a relatively new product in the USA. I'm sure the turnaround will be much faster as they import more cubes from Germany.
Overall I'm very happy with my purchase from Talis-US and I'm thankful that Antcube has a partnership with a US based vendor to allow us to purchase this.
One note: I suggest buying the mesh screen caps separately as they are not included (if your ants need the airflow) and I'd also recommend buying the DigFix plate (sold separately) if you're concerned about the back nest area potentially collapsing down the road. My ants are a dry desert species so they need a mostly dry nest on one side for storing seeds which makes a sand-only filled nest too risky.
